The book has been organized into eight chapters with major emphasis on Singapore and People's Republic of China (PRC). The book starts with an introduction discussing the importance of compensation and benefits in attracting, motivating and retaining knowledge workers. It also discusses the findings of a study that was conducted in Singapore on strategies for attracting, motivating and retaining knowledge workers.
Chapter one starts with a review of the development of wage policy in Singapore. It also highlights the role of the National Trade Unions Congress (NTUC) and the Singapore National Employers' Federation in the functioning of the National Wages Council (NWC). Chapter two reports information on the "Total Rewards" structure as practiced in Singapore.
