Abstract George Grant MD was the proud owner of a clinic in Aflao, a small town in Ghana, near the border of Togo. When he had unoccupied beds, he made these available to people who needed accommodation. The rooms were acceptable, although bed sheets were seldom available. Instead, empty bags of flour were used. The official name of Dr Grant's business was 'Good God Clinic & My Good God Hotel'. The telephone number was 264. Proximity to the border was to Dr Grant's advantage. The border closed daily at 6pm sharp, forcing people to spend the night in Aflao. This was good for business. However, there was a rumour that the opening hours of the border may eventually be extended, in which case Dr Grant was not sure how to maintain a high occupancy rate at the 'Good God Clinic & My Good God Hotel'. *Abstract reprinted with the permission of the European Case Clearing House*
