Abstract In 1988, Kirin Brewery launched “Kirin Dry” to compete head-on against Asahi’s enormously successful “Super Dry”. Within a few days, other competitors had also launched their own dry beer. The company also announced price cuts and introduced a new Kirin Lager. In addition, a special task force was constituted by Kiran to face this challenge.
