Abstract This is the second of a two-case series (308-113-1 and 308-114-1). This case focuses on the topic of strategic selection, specifically whether or not the Taj Group should invest in The Pierre Hotel. The case write-up includes information about the Taj Group, the Tata Group, The Pierre Hotel, the hotel industry, the Taj's domestic and international strategies, related challenges, investment options and selection criteria. The case also includes various exhibits for the user to analyse: (1) Taj's corporate holding structure; (2) its financial highlights; (3) strategic planning process; (4) organisational chart; and (5) the company's action plan development and deployment process. The objective of this case is for the user to make a strategic decision: to invest in The Pierre Hotel or not.
