| Abstract |
Since the 1980s, entrepreneurs Eli Taman and Aron Tal owned a successful pet store - Eli's Jungle. During the mid-1990s, they decided to plan an innovative pilot program at a high school for children with developmental disabilities. The students would learn to operate a business, breeding birds supplied by Eli's Jungle. Eli would also provide technical assistance and managerial advice. The sale of the birds would raise money for the special school for children with developmental disabilities; meanwhile, the challenged children would gain practical work experience and self-confidence.
