| Abstract |
A
third party logistics provider with a majority of his clientele (principals)
in the automobile industry was exploring the possibility of offering value
added services through a portal catering the requirements of his principals,
vendors and dealers of his principals, as well as independent transport
fleet operators. In designing the portal, it had to build in flexibility
to cater to potential new principals. The success of the portal very much
depended on the active participation of members of all the target groups.
There was also the dilemma of how to treat the portal: as an independent
profit centre or as added service to the existing third party logistics
business. |
