| Abstract |
Panthersoft, a software company is facing a paradox: it is too big to
compete with start-ups who underbid owing to their low overheads; it is
too small to win orders against the big competitors because big customers
did not want to risk projects and went by brand names. Attrition rates
among software professionals in Panthersoft threaten their growth plans.
One of the founders is pondering over this predicament with a cigarette,
while having his nerves soothed by Pink Floyd playing in the background.
