Abstract A financial services company is exploring the option of setting up a separate desk for marketing mutual funds, as part of its growth strategy. However, it is not clear on the revenue and cost implications as well as skill requirements of entry. The case gives a comprehensive survey of the status of the mutual funds industry at that time. It also gives three projections for the new desk: pessimistic, very likely and optimistic. Should they open the new desk?
