| Abstract |
A
soft drink bottling company faced very high seasonality in capacity utilisation
and hence, labour requirements. The factory was located in a region known
for militant trade unionism. To discourage absenteeism among workers, the
company introduced an incentive system for regular attendance. The case
raises the issue of whether the incentive scheme was appropriate. |
