Case Title IBIL: Penetrating Rural Markets
Case Author(s) Somprabh Kumar Singh
University T. A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI), Manipal, India
Abstract IBIL is debating whether it should grant additional subsidies to its existing distributors to extend their reach to rural towns with a population of around 5000, an important emerging market for packed foods such as biscuits. It has in mind, an alternative channel of 'super-stockists' to cover such rural markets. The case gives the structure of the two alternative channels, a map of the area and data on the towns with number of outlets to be covered in each of the towns.
