Abstract: |
Malik Iqrar aged 12 years was sitting in a chair at the Lahore Centre of Fatimid Foundation, Pakistan waiting for the most important thing necessary for his survival blood. Malik is a student of class 5 and his favorite sport is Cricket. He dreams of being a cricket player one day. Malik's association with Fatimid Foundation goes back to 1995 when at the age of 2 and a half months he was diagnosed with Thalassaemia, a genetic blood disorder transmitted to offspring from parents. Since then he has been a regular patient at Fatimid Foundation as he needs blood after every 15 days. Like Malik hundreds of children suffering from blood diseases line up every day at Fatimid Foundations' Centres for blood. Fatimid Foundation, a non-profit and charitable organization is a symbol of hope for millions of blood disease carriers in Pakistan. Starting with a small centre and a handful of volunteers, Fatimid has grown into the largest organization of its kind, staffed by a professional team of 240 in addition to physicians and trained workers. The major aim of establishing this organization was to provide free blood/blood components to patients suffering from various chronic blood disorders requiring blood/blood component therapy as an essential part of their treatment. It is providing Emergency Medical Services and Haematological Services to its registered patients. |
