Prof. Ashok Som is an Associate Professor in the Management Area at ESSEC Business School, Paris. He received his doctoral degree from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad (2002), M.Tech (1997) and M.Sc (1995) from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, India. Ashok's research has been published in Human Resource Management, International Journal of Human Resource Development and Management, Keio Business Forum, Thunderbird International Business Review, Asia Case Research Journal, International Journal of Human Resource Management (forthcoming) and in international conference proceedings. He has published eleven cases of which two of the cases (Lafarge: From a French Cement Company to a Global Leader and Carrefour Chevere) won international awards.

He is currently involved with large corporations such as Lafarge, LVMH, LOreal, Renault, Canal +, Vodafone, Philips, Faurecia, France Telecom on topics related to international strategy, organization design, international HR, post-merger integration and cross-cultural management issues. He is the co-ordinator of the module "Managing the Global Corporation" in the ESSEC-Mannheim Executive MBA programs and also currently the representative of France at the International Management Division, Academy of Management, USA.
